America the Narcissist

The majority of global respondents to the last two international Pew enter surveys (from 2002 and 2006) regarded the United States as the greatest menace to world peace – far greater than the likes of Iraq or even China. Thinkers and scholars as varied as Christopher Lasch in”The Cultural Narcissist” and Theodore Millon in”Personality Diseases of Everyday Life” have singled out the United States since the quintessential narcissistic society.

The equivalents of trauma and abuse and attributed to a confluence of historical events and processes, this pathology may be traced back in the early childhood of an individual.

The United States of America began as a series of minimal, and connected, distant, savage colonial outposts. The denizens of these settlements were former victims of other refugees servants, lapsed nobility, and persecution. It’s rife with superstition, bias religiosity, intolerance, philistinism, and lack of societal solidarity. Its own religiosity is ubiquitous, competitive, virulent and overt. It’s replete with an eschatology, which entails a shifting cast of demonized”enemies”, both political and cultural.

Americans’ religion is a manifestation of their”Chosen People Syndrome”. They’re missionary, messianic, zealous, fanatical, and nauseatingly self-righteous, bigoted, and hypocritical. This is particularly discernible from the double-speak and double-standard that underlies American foreign policy.

Altruism is infectious and misanthropic. They often give to be able to control, control, and humiliate the receivers.

Narcissism is comorbid with paranoia. Americans unbridled jingoism and cultivate and nurture a siege mentality which leads to violent. Add to this volatile mixture an ethos of malignant individualism, racism both latent and overt, a trampling,”no holds barred” ambitiousness, competitiveness, frontier violence-based morality, and thrilled simple-mindedness – and an ominous portrait of these United States as a deeply disturbed polity emerges.
