As a kid I did lots of ship construction, mainly but I did real build several ships that were, more or less, capable of sailing. I build a 10 ft vessel, or will I say raft. I accomplished this with a few buddies and we had pleasure sailing it. It was not really water proof and the others needed to make sure that they eliminated the water faster then while a man was rowing it was entering our ship.
Then we failed. I was rowing in the moment, when it was apparent we had been sinking and we had been in the center of the river. I stopped rowing to help with the hosing, but the process of sinking slowed down, it didn’t prevent it. So I started to row in on attempt until we snapped to reach dry land, so avoiding having to swim to safety.
And guess what: it was created by us! We managed to jump ashore just before the ship started to sink. Here we saw as our pride and pleasure sank into the bottom of the river. It was then that we realised that we had been in the wrong side of this river and that left us. We had to walk to the nearest bridge or swim to the side.
We decided on swimmingpool. We didn’t see anybody about, so we undressed, and with one hand holding our garments above the water, we managed to get back to our side of the river. As we had been struggling to escape the water a bunch of women from our school were passing by, and that I can tell you that we were not content!
This happened quite a while ago and a few days in my live I’ve had plans of building a boat . I’ve spent a fantastic amount of time but with ships size will matter.
Me has always stopped from moving with my ship construction plans, although I typically looked at ships between 30 and 40 feet.
I have chosen to start little. I will build a 16 ft Grand Banks dory, which I need to match using a small outboard engine. I boughtl the ship construction strategies, I got the area, and by the time you read this piece I might be finished.
Afterwards, who knows, I could build tow my own Grand Banks dory, also a cruiser behind me. Then, in case my cabin cruises sinks, I will constantly row to security within my Grand Banks dory, with and dry my clothes .
